Thousands of communities suing the nation’s three largest opioid distributors will announce this week plans to proceed with a $21 billion global settlement to resolve ongoing and future lawsuits filed by states, cities, counties, and Native American tribes, The Washington Post reports. The deal could set aside funds for governments as soon as the end of September, and release AmerisourceBergen (ABC), Cardinal Health (CAH), and McKesson (MCK) from litigation brought by communities devastated by the opioid crisis.
