With more than 50 per cent of the adult population of India now vaccinated with at least one shot, companies are drawing up plans to bring their employees back to offices. A fast reopening economy is resulting in a surge in hiring in the formal sector, leading to a surge in demand for office space. While stocks of listed real estate companies have been seeing a good run on the back of strong demand for residential properties, investors also have the option to benefit from the impending office demand in India.
ETMarkets’ Chiranjivi Chakraborty caught up with Embassy Office Parks REIT’s Deputy CEO and COO Vikaash Khdloya to gain insights on the bull market expected in commercial real estate, the REIT’s plans to capitalise on it and what it can mean for investors.
1. How important are the recent regulatory changes that have been brought in for REITs and InvITs?
2. With the economy reopening and vaccinations picking up pace, are you seeing buoyancy return to the commercial RE space?
3. How is Embassy REIT looking to benefit from this impending demand boom in office spaces?
4. How will the acquisitions that you have in your plans going to affect your earnings and can unitholders count another boost the distributions per unit?
Thank you Chiranjivi and Mr. Khdloya for a very intriguing conversation.
