Awards winner’s ‘joy’ at 2019 win as firm urges others to submit their entries

The boss of an award-winning firm has described her team’s shock at receiving a top prize at the Examiner Business Awards last time out – and urged others to get their entries in.

Tamsyn Williamson’s firm TimberTight took home the award for New Business of the Year and has spoken about what the win meant for the firm, which makes timber frame buildings “delivered to tight timescales and budgets”.

Speaking about being handed the award at the John Smith Stadium back in 2019 – the last time the awards took place – she said: “We were overjoyed to win in 2019. It felt like a recognition of our hard work.

In terms of how the pandemic impacted the firm, Ms Williamson said: “We were closed for two months from March last year, and the industry got off to a slow start.

“We’ve suffered with huge material increases and shortages, but the construction industry is buoyant and timber frame especially so.

“Our resilience has come from having control of costs and cash flow, plus a product that the market considers to be high quality.”

“Our awards this year aim to reward the incredible determination and skill the region’s firms used to tackle these challenges head on – celebrating not only success, but resilience.

“We want to show what a great place this is to do business and how many of our local companies are leading the way.
