PTP is helping to power up Birmingham’s businesses

A highly skilled workforce is the bedrock of any successful company.

And for an industrial powerhouse like Birmingham and the West Midlands, having that pipeline of emerging talent is essential for future growth.

Thankfully, the region is also home to award-winning training provider, Performance Through People (PTP), that has excelled in meeting that need for over half a century.

“The origins of PTP start in the 1970s and we are now one of the leading training providers in the West Midlands and have centres throughout Birmingham, Black Country and Staffordshire,” explains managing director Rob Colbourne.

“We aim to provide excellent training and development that meets the needs of individuals and employers, delivered by highly competent specialist staff.

“Our vision is to be the chosen provider for stakeholders, with highly motivated staff, training in inspirational learning centres with quality marks confirming our standing as a provider of excellence.”

Staff deliver apprenticeships across a wide range of occupational areas such as hospitality and logistics, engineering and manufacturing, business and professional, accountancy, healthcare, retail and other specialist areas such as leather, butchery and regulatory compliance amongst other programmes; offering a ‘one stop shop’ in terms of supporting clients, whoever they may be.

And PTP’s Apprenticeship Works service can help businesses recruit staff, finding the right apprentice, taking care of advertising, shortlisting and setting up interviews, at no cost. In addition, PTP also offers traineeships, adult training and other programmes such as bootcamps (digital and HGV) and student loans.

With government-backed employer incentive payments of £3,000 per apprentice that is recruited, it’s a route more employers are likely to follow.

  • Performance Through People was drinks sponsor at the Greater Birmingham Apprenticeship Awards 2021. The awards celebrated the best and brightest learners, training providers and the employers who are helping them to succeed. The awards, held earlier this month, were run in partnership with The Ladder for Greater Birmingham.
