Soaring job vacancies means now is the time to upgrade your career

There’s never been a better time to upgrade your career – and a Bristol-based recruitment agency can help you take that next step.

Kingston Barnes specialises in the construction, manufacturing, technical engineering and logistics industries, providing marking leading recruitment services to its clients throughout the UK.

The firm said that now is absolutely the time to update your CV, build connections and allow recruitment to do the legwork for you.

Company MD James Kingston said: “The number of vacancies in the three months to August rose above one million for the first time since records began.

“Covid cases are falling, wages are growing, opportunity is rising, and everyone is beginning to lift in spirits too.

“So in a year that’s felt so out of control, you need to focus on what you can control – make the most of these opportunities and let us help you take the next step in your career.”

More opportunity than ever

The Office for National Statistics announced job vacancies between June and August this year were at a record high of 1,034,000 – that’s 249,000 above pre-pandemic levels.

James explained: “We’re experiencing such rapid growth across the industry that, with record levels of companies hiring in a labour market facing a deficit, it’s very much a candidate-led market.

“There’s more opportunity than ever as the world opens back up, companies have had to regenerate the business they’ve lost while in lockdown.

“Employers want to pull the experienced and qualified workers out of their current roles, and entice them with a package they can’t refuse and that their current employer can’t match.

“Over the last quarter, we at Kingston Barnes have seen many candidates taking new opportunities with as much as a 20% increase in overall salary.

“So it’s clearly an ideal time for workers to depart those stale jobs and seek new exciting opportunities elsewhere.”

The Bristol Live Business Awards are a much-anticipated event on the region’s corporate calendar. The glittering awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, December 15. For more details, see the website.

Kingston Barnes is sponsoring the prestigious Business Person of the Year category, to celebrate those who have demonstrated a high degree of entrepreneurship, creativity and vision.

Company MD James Kingston said: “When I started Kingston Barnes almost 10 years ago, I felt there was a gap in the market for a consultancy that could set the new gold standard in recruitment.

“Now I’m delighted that we’ll be celebrating other entrepreneurs in the city aiming to deliver the same exceptional service.”

What really matters

The last two years have also given us all the opportunity to find out what really matters to us and where we can reinvent ourselves.

James said: “This pandemic has highlighted what we value in society and that’s time.

“These days most employers are advertising this along with the wage, respecting that their teams now require flexibility.

“Things like recognising remote working as a viable option, allowing flexible work hours, and adapting to the needs of each employee have shown a new level of understanding and respect from those higher up.”

New adventures

But Kingston Barnes knows that taking those first steps into the unknown can feel a little daunting.

That’s why it’s passionate about finding the right role for you. It gets to know what factors are important in your new job search and identifies opportunities to help you achieve your career goals.

It will even work with you to create your CV, fully brief you on each opportunity and help with preparation and advice on interviewing.

James concluded: “To us, there’s no such thing as a standard off-the-shelf bit of recruitment. Every job seeker and every client looking to hire is unique.

“We understand the importance of getting recruitment right for you and we’re passionate about delivering the perfect fit, whatever your needs.

“Having that feel-good feeling and that new sense of self-belief can really help rejuvenate life and put the pep back in your step. A new job brings a new opportunity, a new purpose and a new adventure.

“If you know that you can secure work during a worldwide pandemic – and work you know you can enjoy and thrive in – you know you’re able to achieve anything, and that’s priceless.”
