It was great news to hear that this year’s Swansea Bay Business Awards 2021 had moved back to a glittering live event. Though the virtual world has served us well over the past 18 months, we’re all desperately overdue a night of celebrations.
And what better way to do just that as we recognise Swansea Bay’s stunning success.
The resilience, adaptability and ingenuity of people in our region has meant that we have beaten the odds to not only survive the troubling times, but thrive.
Live at Brangwyn Hall in Swansea on Thursday, October 21, our business community will reunite for an exciting black-tie evening. Dressed up to the nines instead of dressed down in pyjamas, with a glass of bubbly in hand instead of a cuppa, the event is set to be one to remember.
It has become even more apparent throughout the pandemic how important it is to support local. Throughout Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, there are thousands of talented individuals supporting our communities with their experience and skills; and they should be rewarded.
Not only does the event boost morale in response to individual and group success, it is a reminder of how great Wales is as a place.
Sponsor of the Business in the Community Award and finalist for both Employer and Family Business of the Year, M&D Care is a valued Welsh business. Michelle Martin, clinical director, said: “M&D Care is a proud sponsor and finalist at this year’s awards and we feel now more than ever before, that it is important to join together and celebrate the successes of businesses within our local communities.
“We would like to take this opportunity to say how much we appreciate the hard work and dedication demonstrated by our employees during the last 18 months. We’ve been inspired by their personal commitment to making a difference and keeping everyone safe, witnessing such compassion and dedication that we can only thank them on behalf of the people we support.”
Similarly, Vortext IoT is both sponsoring the Customer Focus Award and is a finalist for the Tech Business of the Year. CEO Adrian Sutton is shortlisted for Entrepreneur of the Year, he said: “As a business we are extremely proud of our Swansea Bay roots and the connections we have with the region – be it Swansea University, Gower College or NOT College with whom we have developed strong links or the local authorities and Tata Steel who have embraced our innovations and supported the business in many ways.
“On a personal level I’m privileged to be shortlisted and proud to be supporting this celebration of local talent and enterprise.”
It will be brilliant to hear all of the inspiring success stories at the special grand finale, with 13 awards to be handed out and 30 diverse finalists waiting in anticipation.
One of those finalists is Crunch Digital Media. A spokesperson said: “Honoured to be nominated for two categories, Small Business and Employer of the Year. It is great to be recognised for our hard work, embracing local talent and looking after our staff. The Covid-19 pandemic has made Crunch even stronger and has proofed that our team culture was key to survive.”
Was Cagi, founder and CEO of WUEZZA, is very thankful to have been given the opportunity to receive the Business in the Community Award. He said: “This award means so much to us a company and really shows what we are about and what values our company wants to bring to the community.
“It is great in recognising that small business in Wales are helping out the community and the fact that gets rewarded really does make up for the hard work put into each business idea.
“During the tough times we are living in too, it’s great to receive and have such a positive award around. The award ceremony is something that we are very honoured to be a part of, and at WUEZZA we strongly anticipate our Pay What You Can Afford and Stepping Into Your Needs as our main message.”
