EastEnders’ Tom convinces Dotty to halt Sonia revenge plan after identity twist

EastEnders’ Tom Cotton persuaded his niece Dotty Cotton to stop plotting against Sonia Fowler, in a bid for the inheritance money

EastEnders fans were a little conflicted, as Tom Cotton worked on bringing an end to his and Dotty Cotton’s evil plan.

Despite posing as Sonia Fowler’s father Terry Cant for months, it has recently turned out he is in fact Dotty’s secret uncle, Tom.

The truth was revealed this week, as Dotty confirmed they had teamed up to get their hands on her grandmother Dot’s inheritance, after Sonia was made power of attorney.

Desperate to get her hands on the inheritance, Dotty is tricking Sonia in the cruelest of ways – and has asked her uncle, Tom, for help with this.

But Tom is now feeling bad, after getting to know Sonia and he genuinely cares for her it seems.

Thursday’s episode saw Tom showing he had second thoughts but Dotty was insistent that their plan would go ahead.

Sonia had told him she was only keeping the money until Dotty proved she could be trusted, so Tom decided to use this to his advantage.

On Friday, Tom had another go at convincing Dotty to drop their act and do things properly.

He wanted her to prove to Sonia she was mature, believing this would get her the inheritance without breaking any hearts.

Tom told Dotty: “She just wants to see if you are mature enough to handle the inheritance. She cares about you and reckons you’re a good person deep down.

“We do this your way, there ain’t no going back, bridges burned for good, but if we do it above board, you get the inheritance, you get to keep your family.

“Show Sonia you are mature. You can start by making it up with Tiffany.”

Later after a row with Tiff, Dotty was back to Plan A and told Tom it was back on, leading to him attempting for a final time.

He said: “See I thought Dotty Cotton was a grafter. Why do you think Ruby asked you to look after the club?

“Maybe this ain’t the easy option, but the way I see it you have more to lose than money if we don’t at least try.

“You have got people who care about you. You’ve got Sonia, you’ve got Whit, you’ve got Vinny, you’ve got Tiff even despite what she might say.

“You want to give all that up? Fine, but money ain’t gonna keep you company.”

Dotty agreed: “Alright then, yeah, but if this doesn’t work we go back to doing things my way.”

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
