What kind of person are Gogglebox looking for?

Gogglebox’s exectutive producer has given a little bit of insight into what bosses look for in a cast member.

Victoria Ray told the Daily Star : “The ideal people are ones who don’t know that they’re funny.

“We like people who are charismatic, engaging and who don’t necessarily see themselves as TV personalities.

“It’s good when they have no filter because then they don’t second-guess themselves when they’re talking.

“We basically want people that you warm to and want to see in your living rooms.”

How to apply to be on Gogglebox

Bosses say they are usually on the lookout for people who don’t necessarily want to be on the TV.

There is no exact criteria given for those who are keen to apply for the show.

Instead, producers keep their eyes and ears peeled in order to scout out new cast members.

This could be on social media or simply through word of mouth – so keep a look out for that call!

Sometimes talent is selected from other shows – for example cast members Steph and Dom were summoned by Gogglebox bosses after appearing on Channel 4’s Four In A Bed.

How much do Gogglebox stars get paid?

According to reports, the show pays its cast members £1,500 per month.

The sum paid is per household. This means that no matter how many individuals sit on that sofa, the amount will remain the same.

Family and friends who appear together will have to sort our and share the payment between themselves.

Not a bad little hobby to take up!
