Charmed actress Rose McGowen took aim at talk show host Oprah Winfrey in a scathing social media post, saying she’s glad people are “seeing the ugly truth”
The Charmed actress, 47, took to Twitter at the weekend to call out the talk show host.
“I am glad more are seeing the ugly truth of @Oprah,” Rose tweeted alongside of past photo of Oprah now 67, smiling alongside Harvey Weinstein.
“I wish she were real, but she isn’t,” she added. “From being pals with Weinstein to abandoning & destroying Russell Simmon’s [sic] victims, she is about supporting a sick power structure for personal gain, she is as fake as they come. #lizard.”
The actress is an outspoken survivor of sexual assault and was one of the first of dozens of women to accuse Harvey of rape.
The disgraced film producer’s long list of alleged sexual assaults date back to the 1970s and were the catalyst for the #MeToo movement which began in October 2017.
While he has continued to deny having “any non-consensual sex,” he was found guilty on two counts in February 2020.
Russel has also been accused of rape and sexual misconduct. The music executive, 63, has denied the accusations made by 20 women and stayed out of the limelight in recent years, although he did make an appearance in the Hamptons earlier in August.
Early last year, Oprah stepped down as executive producer from the Russell Simmons’ #MeToo documentary titled On the Record as the music mogul continued to fighting the allegations made against him.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the time, Oprah said: ““I want it to be known that I unequivocally believe and support the women. Their stories deserve to be told and heard.
“In my opinion, there is more work to be done on the film to illuminate the full scope of what the victims endured, and it has become clear that the filmmakers and I are not aligned in that creative vision.”
It’s not the first time Rose has publicly slammed Oprah. In 2018, she told the Daily Mail that she turned down an interview opportunity with Oprah due to the talk show host’s previous friendship with Harvey Weinstein.
Oprah has consistently denied any knowledge of the producer’s sexual abuse.
