Stars pay emotional tributes on first anniversary of Chadwick Boseman’s death

Chadwick Boseman died from colon cancer in 2020 at the age of 43 and his Black Panther co-star Lupita Nyong’o was among the stars paying tribute to the star on the anniversary of his death

Tributes poured in on Saturday to mark the anniversary of actor Chadwick Boseman’s death.

The Hollywood star, best known for his role in Black Panther, died from colon cancer at the age of 43 after a four-year battle with the disease.

His death was a shock to fans across the globe after the actor had kept his diagnosis private.

But fans and famous faces alike united to pay emotional tributes to show that it’s a case of gone but certainly not forgotten.

Leading the way was his Black Panther co-star Lupita Nyong’o who posted a snap of the pair sharing a laugh. Alongside the jovial image, the actress penned: “I did not know that I could miss both his laughter and his silence in equal measure. I do. I do…

“One year after his passing, the memory of @chadwickboseman remains this alive in me.”

Josh Gad also left a heartfelt message to mark the star’s death.

Taking to Twitter, the voice of Olaf in Frozen wrote: “Not a day goes by one year later, where it doesn’t still hurt. But in the darkness, he always reminds us of the light. He was an angel on this planet and is now a Saint on high. Love you and miss you more than ever… forever. #ChadwickBoseman”









Chadwick’s co-star on Ma Rainey’s Black Botton, Viola Davis, left a simple but powerful message on her on Twitter page alongside a picture of the pair from the hit Netflix drama.

She wrote: “This day last year you left this earth and us. Man you are missed!!!” She accompanied the post with several emojis, including a broken heart.

Chadwick achieved a posthumous award for his brilliant performance in the movie which was his final role before his death.

Django Unchained actress Kerry Washington shared a snap of the star smiling and captioned it: “One year without Chadwick Boseman. Thank you for watching over us. We miss you King.”

And Marvel Entertainment’s official Twitter page also shared their own tribute to the actor.

They uploaded an image of the actor emotively staring into space alongside the caption “Honoring our friend, our inspiration, and our King, Chadwick Boseman.”
