Indie-Rose Breckon, aged eight, has been placed on life support after her lifelong condition of Cystic Fibrosis took a bad turn.
The Teesside youngster was born with Cystic Fibrosis which means that she has been in and out of hospital all of her life and has endured multiple surgeries to ease the condition, Teesside Live reports.
Her battle has inspired an ‘army’ of support within her community, who have come together to raise funds for the child.
Indie-Rose’s fight has also attracted messages of support from a range of her TikTok heroes and England and Leeds footballer Kalvin Phillips.
Teesside Live spoke to Indie-Rose’s cousin, Donna Leighton, about the brave little girl’s fight and the setting up of Indie’s Army – a support group for her and the family.
She said: “To stay close to Indie, her mam Sally and dad Jay have had to move to Newcastle so they’re able to spend crucial time with their daughter.
“They have given up work and also have a seven year old daughter and a newborn baby son to look after so it’s so difficult for them.
“We are therefore raising some money to help them pay bills and support family life to lessen the load in these unusual and trying circumstances. We also want to help this heartbroken family out and bring some hope and assistance for Christmas.”
The Boosbeck community have rallied around Indie-Rose and her family during this difficult time.
Her mum Sally Wilson has set up Indie’s Army as a support network during her fight with Cystic Fibrosis.
Donna added: “The whole community came together for Boosbeck light switch on last Friday where children from Indie’s school sang for her and Vicar Valerie shared prayers. They raised over £1,600 to give to the family.”
Like many eight year olds, Indie-Rose is an avid user of the social platform TikTok and loves recreating the latest dances at home in Boosbeck.
Cousin Donna hopes to get in touch with Indie’s favourite Tik Tokkers to get messages of support for the young girl.
She said: “We are reaching out to try and gain support from Indie’s favourite TikTok stars so we can play these to her to give her strength.
“She has had a message of support from England footballer Kalvin Phillips as well of some of her fave TikTok stars such as the Manley Family and the Hudson Twins.”
Donna and supporters of Indie’s Army are urging people to donate to the GoFundMe page which will help Indie and her family during this incredibly difficult time.
Donna went on to say that Indie’s little sister and brother ‘miss her so much’ whilst she’s on life support in the Freeman Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
She added: “Please add @ indiesarmy on TikTok and help us send love and prayers to give Indie the strength to keep fighting. She is an absolute warrior and the whole of her army is with her in her fight.”
