Deadline Day LIVE! Chelsea reach Saul agreement; Tomiyasu to Arsenal

Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Saul Niguez during what look set to be a frantic final few hours of the transfer window.

Thomas Tuchel sees the Atletico Madrid midfielder as someone who can make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are in talks over a loan deal with an option to buy him next summer.

Clubs in England have until 11pm BST tonight to get deals over the line.

Atletico have been reluctant to let Niguez leave but the Spain midfielder leave is reportedly keen on a move to Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are closing in on a loan deal for Niguez with an option to buy him next summer.

Tuchel also wants to sign France defender Jules Kounde before the window slams shut but Sevilla have rejected what they have described as an “unsatisfactory” offer.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have agreed an £17.2million deal to buy defender Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna. Hector Bellerin has completed a medical at Real Betis ahead of a loan move to La Liga. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is staying at Arsenal after holding clear-the-air talks with Mikel Arteta.

Tottenham have confirmed the £25.7m signing of Barcelona right-back Emerson on a five-year contract, while Odsonne Edouard is nearing a £14m move from Celtic to Crystal Palace.

Cristiano Ronaldo has officially completed his sensational return to Manchester United today after passing a medical and penning a lucrative two-year contract, though Kylian Mbappe is one superstar staying put after Real Madrid reportedly withdrew their offer to Paris Saint-Germain and instead turned their focus onto Eduardo Camavinga. That should also mean Erling Haaland will be staying with Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann is in talks over a sensational return to Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have completed the signing of French teenage sensation Eduardo Camavinga.

Manchester City are still looking for that elusive striker after Harry Kane elected to remain at Spurs. West Ham have signed Nikola Vlasic after admitting defeat in their pursuit of Jesse Lingard before turning attentions to Alex Kral.

And will Liverpool strengthen any further before the deadline? Captain Jordan Henderson has signed a new contract at Anfield already today.

Mbappe to stay in Paris

The biggest story of this summer’s transfer window has now closed. Kylian Mbappe will remain a Paris Saint-Germain player despite Real Madrid offering to pay £189million for the French forward.

According to Sky Sports, the deal stalled when PSG failed to respond to the bid in time. As such, the Spanish serial-winners will refocus their efforts in the January window.

The 22-year-old’s PSG contract expires at the end of the current campaign and he has made it clear to the club he has no intention of extending the deal.

He joined PSG from Ligue 1 rivals Monaco in 2017 and has gone on to win three French titles and three French cups with the side.

Mbappe was also part of the France squad that lifted the World Cup in Russia in 2018.

West Ham not done with Kral signing

West Ham may not be quite done following the signing of Alex Kral from Spartak Moscow, as Standard Sport’s Jack Rosser reports.

The midfielder is set to join on a season-long loan with an option to buy which will become an obligation after a certain amount of starts.

Once he has signed his new deal with the club, attention will turn to a signing for the future for a fee of around £1million. It may not come off in time but there is a chance of a third deadline day arrival.

Tottenham make Royal signing from Barcelona

Tottenham have completed the signing of Barcelona right-back Emerson Royal on a five-year contract.
Emerson completed a medical this morning after the clubs agreed a fee worth around €30million (£25.75 million), with the deal thought to include add-ons.

Spurs coach Nuno Espirito Santo has targeted an new right-back this summer and Spurs decided to pursue Emerson despite their apparent failure to find a buyer for Serge Aurier.

Emerson will compete with Japhet Tanganga and Matt Doherty for a place in Nuno’s side, with Aurier unlikely to play a significant part in the final year of his contract.

The Brazil international, who joined Barca from Atletico Mineiro in 2019 but has spent the past two seasons at Real Betis, was also targeted by Arsenal but favoured a move to their north London rivals. Arsenal are instead set to sign Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu, who was the subject of interest from Spurs.

Spurs said: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Emerson Royal from Barcelona, subject to international clearance and a work permit. The right-back has signed a contract with us until 2026 and will wear the number 12 shirt.”

Saul deal done

We expected this one to drag on a bit, but Fabrizio Romano (who else?) has just confirmed that Chelsea have acquired a serious player for the season.

Saúl Ñíguez, the 26-year-old defensive midfielder from Spain, is leaving Atletico Madrid to join Thomas Tuchel and his European champions.

The deal is worth a reported £4million. Saúl will be in London soon to sign the contract.

Does this now make the Blues favourites for the title?

Mendes joins PSG

Fabrizio Romano has the inside line again and this time reports that Nuno Mendes, one of the best left backs in the world, has joined PSG on a season long loan from Sporting Lisbon worth around £6 million with the option to buy for £34 million.

Left back was a problem (relatively) area for the Frencg giants. Now that that’s sorted, they have quite the team. Anyone fancy playing against this lot?

Real Madrid secure French teenage sensation Camavinga

The 18-year-old is one of the most exciting talents on the continent and attracted the interest of Manchester United.

However, Real Madrid have just announced on their website that they have won the tug of war for the dazzling midfielder and have snapped him up for six seasons until 2027. The deal is reportedly worth around £27 million with add-ons taking it to around £34 million.

Camavinga has won four caps for the French national side and has starred for Renne in Ligue 1.

He was born in a refugee camp in Miconge, Angola in 2002, to Congolese parents, who fled from Kinshasa. His family moved to France when he was 2.
