Newsboy has selected Dan Skelton’s Nube Negra to spring a shock by beating hot favourite Chacun Pour Soi to win the Grade One Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown Park
Nube Negra can cast a dark cloud over favourite Chacun Pour Soi when the pair meet in the Tingle Creek Chase (2.25) at Sandown Park on Saturday.
With just two defeats from nine starts for Willie Mullins – including five at the top level – the Irish raider was always set to be a warm order for the Betfair-sponsored Grade 1 test.
But Chacun Pour Soi is not invincible – as he showed when beaten into third behind Put The Kettle On as the 8-13 hotpot for the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham last March.
Nube Negra split the pair with a half-length second – and arguably would have gone close to winning but for a stumble on landing at the final fence.

The Dan Skelton-trained seven-year-old was below par when third to Chacun Pour Soi at Punchestown but put up a personal best on his return to the fray at Cheltenham last month.
Partnered by the trainer’s brother Harry, Nube Negra stormed up the hill to humble Politologue by six lengths in the Grade 2 Shloer Chase.
The Spanish-bred gelding still has the potential to go higher and rates the value to floor the market leader and register the first Grade 1 success of his going-places career.
At Aintree, SNOW LEOPARDESS is fancied to star over the Grand National fences with a win in the Unibet Becher Handicap Chase (2.40) at Aintree.
Charlie Longsdon’s grey mare, out of the frame just once in six attempts over fences last season, began her second campaign over the larger obstacles in perfect style at Bangor-On-Dee last month.
Putting in a sound round of jumping, bar a nudge of the last, the nine-year-old had two and three-quarter lengths to spare over Windsor Avenue.
Snow Leopardess has an additional 5lb on her back but is lightly raced for a horse of her age and still has more to offer.
After a close second to Midnight Shadow in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham three weeks ago, PROTEKTORAT is taken to one better in the Grade 2 Unibet Many Clouds Chase (2.05).
That performance represents a personal best from the Dan Skelton six-year-old, who looks ready for a return to three miles.

A record of three victories from four starts under Rules shows the Olly Murphy-saddled son of Jeremy to be on the up, and a British Horseracing Authority mark of 128 looks to underestimate Adrian Heskin’s mount as he makes his debut in the handicap sphere.
Gavin Cromwell sends Galway winner WHITE PEPPER from Co Meath to Merseyside for the Listed Unibet Proudly Supports ‘Racing Is Everyone’s Sport’ Fillies’ Juvenile Hurdle (1.30) – and punters should take the hint.

Kayf Tara’s son was lucklessly brought down first at Warwick first time up over fences at the start of last month but made handsome amends there 12 days later and looks capable of taking rank among the fencing rookies.
He racked up the hat-trick at Haydock Park a fortnight ago and STRICTLYADANCER looks ripe for the four-timer in the Betfair Exchange London National Handicap Chase (3.00).
Harry Fry’s METIER lifted the Grade 1 Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle over course and distance last January and the five-year-old gets the nod for the Listed Betfair Daily Rewards December Handicap Hurdle (3.35).
