Sneaker boots made with waterproof leather ideal for anyone who enjoys long hikes through the mountains and woods (where it may or may not rain at any time).

Backcountry

Promising review: “These are great boots. I absolutely love them. And for a hiking boot they are definitely on the more fashionable side. I feel like they almost mimic these super expensive designer Chloe boots. But these are functional! I hike miles a day now in this quarantine and these are amazing. I will buy again. I got the black and I’m thinking green next time. They seem true to size to me. I LOVE THEM!” —Sarah D

Get them from Backcountry for $103.97+ (available in sizes 6–11 and six colors).

4.

Birkenstock Arizona slip-ons that are waterproof and washable, so they don’t get grimy due to moisture or rain, no matter how often you wear them this summer.

amazon.com

Promising review: “I have owned several pairs of the classic Arizona and when I saw these I knew I wanted to give them a try. If you have had classic birks you understand how awful it is when they get wet. I’m working seasonally in Alaska this summer and needed something that is okay with the moisture up here. I’ve had these for about a month now and I love them. The EVA foam is actually softer and more comfortable than the cork in my opinion and they are perfect when wet. They weigh nothing. So lightweight and easy. Plus they have all of the looks of the Birkies you love so much. Half the price too. Can’t beat it!” —Bethany

Get them from Amazon for $29.34+ (available in sizes 5.5–15.5 and 25 colors).

5.

Waterproof garden sloggers designed to let your feet breathe and keep them dry while you water the flowers this spring. I don’t have an outdoor garden but these in the goat print make me really want one 😍!

Amazon, amazon.com

Promising review: “These are very comfortable! I wasn’t sure if they would be too hot in the summer, but they somehow breathe, yet keep feet dry. And they were warm in the winter; I’d slip them on and run out to the hen-house to let the Girls out. I like the way the tread provides traction, yet dirt doesn’t cling to the inside of the grooves. They are so fun, too! I get mainly chuckles when I wear them. I was worried The Girls would peck at them (since they are so bright) but maybe Pepper recognizes her picture on the shoe!” —KForHerbs

Get them from Amazon for $34.04+ (available in 6–11 and eight colors).

7.

Waterproof high-top sneakers so you can stay cool, causal, and collected when you’re out in these and a thunderstorm decides to blow through.

amazon.com

Promising review: “I am so happy with this purchase! Wore these to a music festival that was muddy and rained later on during the night. My feet were completely dry and the shoes aren’t ruined, just used baby wipes to clean them off and they’re ready to go again. They look so similar to the all black high-top Converse sneakers. They fit very true to size, I’m usually a size 9.5 but I ordered a 10 and I believe going down a half size would’ve been better but I just wore a thicker sock to take care of that problem. I give 5 stars!” —Amazon Customer

Get them from Amazon for $14.99+ (available in sizes 5–11 and 23 styles).

8.

Doc Martens platform boots I personally swear by. These are not waterproof but they’ll give you a little lift, complete your stylish ensembles, and they hold up just fine against puddles and drizzling dreary weather.

Doc Martens

FYI — these do take quite a while to break in. I wore mine on my long walks during surgery recovery for a month straight (the zipper makes them super easy to get on and off), and now they are comfy as heck, but they did bruise and blister my feet a bit in the process. The look is worth it IMO, and they are slip-resistant — they stopped me from falling in my stairwell on a rainy day, something I can’t say for my Vans slip-ons.

Get them from Doc Martens for $180 (available in sizes 5-14 and two colors).

Amazon, Harper Hendrickson / Via BuzzFeed

Promising review: “I love these boots. The first day I wore them. I was a little bit worried because I had a store walk planned for the day. I didn’t know if I would get blisters, but I never did!! These boots are SO comfortable right off the bat and are now my go-to boots anytime I know I’ll be on my feet all day. The construction and quality are amazing. The leather is so soft and very beautiful and VERY durable. The boots fit slightly bigger than the size stated (I’m normally a perfect 8 — these had a little extra wiggle room in the toes — this wasn’t a bad thing, but just something to keep in mind if you’re teetering on what size to order). Overall, I was extremely satisfied with these boots and will be ordering Timberlands again.” —Jody

Get them from Amazon for $113.99+ (available in sizes 5-11 W and seven colors).

10.

Promising review: “I have two other pairs of these FitFlops — one in navy with white tops and one in gold. They have nice arches and are really comfortable to wear. The added bonus is when it rains, they are the best shoe to be wearing. When I saw this color I knew I had to get it. They did not disappoint!” —Linnyloveslilly

Check out our review of the Sam Edelman rain booties (#2).

Promising review: “Seattleites try to ignore the rain as much as possible, so much that umbrellas signify that you’re a tourist. I moved to the area and wanted to blend in as much as possible, so I gave these a shot. It’s only fall (the start of the rainy season) and I wear these at least twice a week. I bought the shiny olive, but I’m probably going to get them in matte black as well. I’m picky when it comes to boots. Most of them make my tiny feet look huge, and stick out way too much. I love the pointed toe (I have sensitive feet, I’m flat-footed and really like Birkenstocks) and these don’t cause any issues.” —Hey!

Get them from Amazon for $26.99+ (available in sizes 4–13 and nine colors).

12.

All-terrain trail runners designed to withstand rain, mud, puddles, and any other obstacles you may encounter while out on the trails.

A pair of Suavs high-tops with a super-stretchy knit exterior (made from recycled plastic bottles) for a breathable, quick-drying, super-comfy fit.

BuzzFeed / Via Harper Hendrickson

I’ve had these shoes in the past and adored them. They are stretchy, durable, and they are some of the comfiest shoes I’ve ever worn. I liked them way more than I anticipated I would, so much so that I didn’t take them off for a week when I first got them! They are not waterproof but they held up really well against a really rainy spring in the Catskills (they dry really quickly), and they are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles with a rubber toe cap to stop water from getting in!

Get them from Suavs for $110 (available in sizes 8–14 and three colors).

Amazon

Promising review: “I got these because I live in the mountains and I never get practical shoes. First day I wore them, it rained! It rained the next time I wore them too! Seems like they bring on the rain! JK, but in seriousness, I love these. Stylish, yet neutral, warm (with thick socks) but light, waterproof as well as pure happiness! I love the slim sole so that it isn’t a clunky fit too!” —Amazon Customer
