Sky is DOWN: Network crashes across East and Central Scotland, leaving users unable to access the internet
It’s one of the most popular network providers in the UK, but it appears that Sky has crashed for thousands of users in Scotland today.
According to Down Detector, the issues started at around 12:30 BST, with over 3,000 reports of problems.
Sky has now confirmed that the outage is affecting customers in East and Central Scotland.
It tweeted: ‘We are investigating an issue with Sky Broadband and Talk affecting some customers in East and Central Scotland.
‘We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing.’

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues to Down Detector, 98% said they could not access the internet, while 1% were having problems with their TV, and 1% were experiencing a total blackout.
Several frustrated users have taken to Twitter to discuss today’s internet outage.
One user wrote: ‘Internet down for last hour & very poor Sky 4G coverage in North Berwick a real issue. I have to use wifi calling to make a phone call. Are you planning to do something about this or should I consider moving to another provider (using my wife’s BT phone to send this).’
Another wrote: ‘Internet is down, check twitter, seems it’s wide spread over Scotland, and Sky are pretending nothing is wrong.’
And one tweeted: ‘Why is the broadband service so unreliable this a second month the entire east coast of Scotland has no internet connection. Absolutely appalling SKY.’
