We thought this year’s Wimbledon was exciting, but the US Open has really showed it up – culminating in a pair of finals that will see two teens go head-to-head in Saturday’s women’s final, and could see Djokovic achieve a record-breaking 21st Grand Slam while ticking off the calendar Grand Slam to boot.
It’s been a tournament of surprises, but the biggest has to be a women’s final made up of British 18-year-old Emma Raducanu and Canada’s Leylah Fernandez – herself not even a full year older, having turned 19 during the tournament.
Novak Djokovic remains the firm favourite on the men’s side, as he bids to be the first man to complete a calendar Grand Slam since 1969 (he’s already won the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon this year). He’s still got tonight’s semi-final against fourth seed Alexander Zverev ahead of him though, so there could well be one more upset in store.
When is the US Open women’s final?
The women’s final will take place on Saturday 11 September. The match kicks off at 4pm local time in New York – which means a 9pm start in the UK, and 10pm across most of Europe.

Before that we still have the men’s semi-finals to worry about though, which are taking place today. Auger-Aliassime and Medvedev will kick things off around 3pm in New York (8pm UK), with Djokovic vs Zverev likely to start at 7pm in New York (midnight in the UK).
