Ann Widdecombe says we should ‘ignore’ Harry and Meghan

Prince Harry has been branded a “professional whinger” unaware of his privilege by former Brexit Party MEP Ann Widdecombe.

Ann Widdecombe also criticised the Sussexes’ “victim” mentality saying the couple are “privileged beyond belief”.

She added she disliked how the Duke of Sussex is has continued to speak about his family despite leaving the institution.

Ms Widdecombe did not hold her feelings back about the royal couple.

She told : “On a more serious note, I think Harry is very damaging to the royals, he must be personally very hurtful to the Queen.

“And I think they should keep quiet, I mean they are privileged beyond belief and they moan that they were cut off financially.

“What a joke, $11million California mansion, and it’s just unbelievable.

“They are privileged, they are professional victims, they are professional whingers and having said that they wanted privacy they’ve done nothing except publicise every last detail of life.”

It comes as reports have suggested the Sussexes are keen to visit the UK after quitting as senior royals and moving to California early last year.

Harry has only returned to the UK twice since the move, while Meghan and two-year-old Archie have not been back so far.

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan’s newborn daughter Lilibet has not been to the UK after being born in California in June and is yet to meet her great-grandmother the Queen or her grandfather Prince Charles.

And according to Katie Nicholl, a royal expert and author of Harry And Meghan: Life, Loss, And Love told Closer magazine : “Christmas is being looked at as an opportunity. There may be a softening, which could pave the way for a healing of the family rift.

“It’s certainly what the Queen wants. Prince Charles would like to see his grandchildren. A meet-up suggests they hope to move on and sort things out.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke to Oprah Winfrey in March and made a series of claims about the family – including one member reportedly speculating about what colour Archie’s skin would be and how the palace allegedly failed to support Meghan when she struggled with her mental health.

Since then, Harry has done his own interviews where he has spoken about his struggles growing up as a member of the Royal Family.

In early 2020, Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals and moved to Canada before settling in California where they are now raising their two children – Archie and Lilibet.

The royal brothers have only reunited a few times this year, at Prince Philip’s funeral and at the unveiling of a statue to their mum, Princess Diana, at Kensington Palace on what would have been her 60th birthday.
