Sanches is back on the radar of top clubs across Europe following his impressive form for Lille and the Portuguese national team and a switch to the Premier League could be on the horizon
The Portuguese midfielder is enjoying a career resurgence for Lille in Ligue 1 and shone for his country at Euro 2020 over the summer.
Sanches was previously billed as one of the biggest prospects in European football when he moved from Benfica to Bayern Munich for an initial €35million six years ago aged just 18.
Things didn’t work out at the Bundesliga giants, with Sanches even experiencing a horrendous loan spell at Swansea City.
But his recent from has attracted renewed interest from various clubs – including Manchester United – and Sanches now feels he is better equipped for another crack at a bigger club.

Reflecting on his time in Germany, Sanches told L’Equipe: “When I arrived at Bayern, I was not ready to play in such a club. I was very young. And when I got ready, the opportunity to play with this team never came.
“Today I feel ready. I understand football better, I have more experience, I know what to do to play in this kind of club and that changes everything.”
Sanches has been a regular for Lille since his transfer in 2019, amassing 67 appearances for the club thus far, scoring five times and registering six assists.
It was his impressive performances for Portugal over the summer which really caught the eye, however, with both Arsenal and Liverpool heavily linked.
Arsenal were even reported to have made enquiries as to his availability, only to be put off by Lille’s asking price.
At the same time, Sanches was being touted as a potential replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum at Anfield, though Liverpool largely kept their purse strings tight.
But either club could yet reignite their interest in the 24-year-old, who has left the door wide open to an exit in the coming months.
Asked about the interest, he replied: “Maybe Milan and Arsenal are interested but I don’t know.

“I spoke with my agent, I know which clubs are calling and which are not, but I can’t tell now. But I know I’m ready. If an offer comes in, I’ll find out what’s best for me.”
Arsenal are already a little light on central midfielders and could be set to let another depart in January, amid talk of Mohamed Elneny joining Galatasaray on a free transfer.
The futures of Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira both appear to be away from Arsenal when their current loan spells end, suggesting a new recruit in the middle of the park could be high on Mikel Arteta’s wishlist.
Liverpool are fairly well-stocked for midfielders but are experiencing a mini injury crisis in that area at present.
There is also speculation that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could leave Liverpool in the not-too-distant future, while Thiago Alcantara has been linked with a return to Barcelona.
