Arsenal predicted line up vs Burnley as Mikel Arteta makes Bernd Leno decision

Arsenal’s no.1 shirt is still up for grabs but Aaron Ramsdale’s clean sheet against Norwich City will go a long way in helping him keep his place in the side over Bernd Leno

Mikel Arteta previews Burnley clash

Aaron Ramsdale is set to keep his place in Arsenal’s starting XI as they take on Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

The £24million summer signing from Sheffield United was given the nod over Bernd Leno in the 1-0 win over Norwich last weekend after the German was selected in the opening three Premier League matches.

Arsenal’s no.1 shirt is still up for grabs but Ramsdale’s clean sheet against the Canaries will go a long way in helping him keep his place in the side.

When Arteta was quizzed if the Englishman would start at Turf Moor, he was coy on who would be picked.

He said: “It’s the same in every position. We want them to make each other better. We are competing against the opponent, we are not competing against each other here.

“We are just trying to bring players that can raise the level of the player that is playing the position, the level of the team, the level of the club. This is the only reason.

“Obviously for Bernd it wasn’t a pleasing communication when I told him that he wasn’t playing. But he’s a top professional and a top person. He should be disappointed and he should support his teammates like they all have with him every time he’s played. That’s exactly what he’s done.”

Takehiro Tomiyasu impressed against Norwich at right-back will likely feature once again alongside a back four of Ben White, Gabriel and Kieran Tierney.

Albert Sambi Lokonga was another standout who hasn’t taken long to find his feet in the Premier League following his move from Anderlecht.

And he could partner Thomas Partey in midfield who could make his first start since returning from injury as Ainsley Maitland-Niles drops to the bench.

It’s set to be the same front four as last weekend with Nicolas Pepe and Bukayo Saka out wide, with Martin Odegaard supporting striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the no.10 role.

That means Emile Smith Rowe will find himself on the bench once again as the Norwegian is preferred to the youngster.

Arsenal predicted XI vs Burnley : Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tierney; Partey, Lokonga; Pepe, Odegaard, Saka; Aubameyang.
