American star Jean Hale has passed away aged 82

Hollywood actress Jean Hale has passed away at the age of 82-years-old following a decades long career in tinseltown.

The star famously played Polly, the accomplice of the Mad Hatter, in episodes of the classic ABC television series of Batman in the 1960s opposite Adam West’s Bruce Wayne/Batman and Burt Ward’s Robin.

Jean’s family announced the news of her passing on Monday, revealing she had died of ‘natural causes’ last month, on August 3rd, in Santa Monica.

The American actress, who was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, had also famously played a character named Lisa in spoof spy film In Like Flint.

The Hollywood Reporter broke news of Jean’s passing late on Monday, writing: “Jean Hale, who tussled with James Coburn’s character in the spy spoof In Like Flint and portrayed the hatcheck-girl accomplice of David Wayne’s Mad Hatter on TV’s Batman, has died.”

They added: “She was 82” and added that her family had confirmed her death last month was of “natural causes”.

Jean had been married to Emmy award winning actor Dabney Coleman in 1961 and together they had three children: Quincy Coleman, Randy Coleman, and Kelly Johns – before divorcing in 1984.

Reflecting on Jean’s life and career, the Hollywood Reporter explained she: “studied at the University of Utah, where she majored in ballet, and then Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York.”

Jean broke into acting after reportedly being talent spotted by Sandra Dee’s agent Len Luskin while walking down Fifth Avenue in New York – and leading to her signing a “seven figure” deal to star in a string of 20th Century Fox films.
