The 51-year-old had previously apologised for advising Andrew’s senior political aides as he fought the accusations which saw him resign as governor of New York.
It was deemed that Chris had broken the barrier between journalists and lawmakers but his position became untenable after thousands of pages of new evidence was released on Monday by New York attorney general, Letitia James.
Theses documents showed that Chris had been more than an advisor and was intimately involved with helping his brother.

Explaining the decision they had taken in the wake of the new details, CNN said in a statement on Tuesday: “The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions.”
The statement continued: “When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly.
“But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second.
“However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew.”
The network concluded: “As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation.”
It was revealed that among the emails and text messages that the TV host had sent to his brother’s team, Chris has offered repeatedly: “Please let me help with the prep.”
It was also said that Chris had tried to find out the details of news articles from other outlets about the allegations against his brother, including Politico and The New Yorker.
There have been a number of revelations about Chris and the help he has given his brother, which had led to questions to CNN about their stance on the matter.
Chris had been given support by CNN president, Jeff Zucker, for several months and had refused to take action against the anchor despite evidence showing that he had made a breach of basic reportorial conduct.
