ITV have unveiled a brand new teaser trailer giving Coronation Street fans a glimpse of what’s to come on the soap next week.

Featuring the haunting track Me and the Devil by Soap&Skin, the minute-long video sets the scene for the upcoming deadly drama.

At one point, drug lord Harvey Gaskill (Will Mellor) is seen emerging from the side of an overturned prison van in the pouring rain whilst Corey Brent dons a wolf mask as he torments a traumatised Nina Lucas.

As the tension builds, the trailers shows Abi confronting Corey in the spooky house of horrors before the pair are shown trapped down a drain shaft, whilst an anxious Roy Cropper watches from above and begs Abi to “put the gun down”.

With the storm intensifying, viewers witness the ground open up beneath Jenny Connor and ends with a terrified Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) coming face-to-face with evil Harvey.

Viewers will remember that Leanne testified against Harvey in court earlier this year after he started using her son Simon as a drug dealer.

It’s unsure how Harvey managed to escape prison, but there’s no doubt that he’s hell bent on getting revenge.

Revenge, love and heartbreak are centre stage amid the chaos and destruction, which will see at least one person meet their maker.

It is, undoubtedly, the most ambitious week that Corrie boss Iain Macleod has ever conceived and be even bigger than the famed tram crash, which Iain himself helped storyline and saw four people die.

Iain recently explained that it was always on the cards for Will Mellor to return as Harvey to Corrie after he was double-crossed by his aunt Sharon.

“He was part of my original treatment for this week,” Iain said. “Will is fantastically good – he is incredibly plausible and scary. Long term viewers know I really like to import movie parallel. With Harvey it’s Cape Fear and Terminator 2 if that’s not a bizarre comparison.

“This guy is relentless, dangerous and terrifying. We wanted to do something filmic with him where he is at large and wanting revenge and insert him into this backdrop.

“The end result is very chilling. When I spoke to Will, he was on the other end of the phone, but it sounded like he was rubbing his hands together with glee. The story couldn’t be in better hands. Harvey is like the every day kind of guy you bump into in the pub, but then you spill his pint and all hell kicks off,” Iain added.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
