Cristiano Ronaldo has scored for Manchester United on his second debut for the club against Newcastle United.

The four-time Ballon D’or winner bagged 45 minutes into his triumphant return, proudly donning the famous number seven shirt once again.

The goal sparked wild celebrations from the Old Trafford faithful.

After working tirelessly to break the visitors down, Man Utd finally found a breakthrough in the form of the man of the hour.

The goal stemmed from Mason Greenwood, who unleashed an effort that took a slight deflection on the way through – wrongfooting Magpies shot-stopper Freddie Woodman.

The Newcastle ‘keeper proceeded to spill the ball into the six-yard box before it fell to the last man Steve Bruce would have wanted – Ronaldo.

The Portuguese icon lashed home from close range, before sprinting to the corner flag to perform his iconic “SIUUUUUU” celebration.

The 36-year-old has ensured the words of his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have rung true, after the United boss explained he wants Ronaldo in the box as much as possible.

When pressed on where he would deploy Ronaldo prior to the game, Solskjaer said: “He is more of a centre forward for me at the moment, I want him in the box, scoring goals.”

In the box is exactly where the former Real Madrid and Juventus man was, firing into the back of Woodman’s net from a yard out.

Ronaldo revealed before the contest that he aims to instil a winning mentality within the Old Trafford dressing room in a bid to help restore Man Utd to their former glories.

During an interview with MUTV, Ronaldo revealed: “We will be here on the pitch trying our best and trying to win important things. This is what we are looking for.

“I think it is a good chance for me, the fans and the club to stay one step ahead. I am ready and I think I will be huge for the next three or four years.”

“This is why I am here, I am not on vacation, winning before was good but I am here to win. I am capable. I am ready to go.
