FIFA players are reporting serious issues with the next-gen version of FIFA 22 on Xbox Series S consoles, across a variety of social media platforms, with many calling the game unplayable.
With FIFA 22 now playable through EA Play, fans playing the next-gen version of the game on Xbox Series S are reporting serious issues.
Players who subscribe to the EA Play subscription service and who own a Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 can now access a 10-hour trial of FIFA 22, before the game’s official worldwide and UK release date of Friday, October 1, 2021.
EA Play will only give players a short 10-hour trial of FIFA 22 but all progress will still carry over when the full game becomes active upon release, but players will still have to purchase a version of the game to continue playing when the game is released.
But players who are trying out the next-gen version of FIFA 22 with Xbox Series S consoles have taken to message boards, forums and social media to complain about serious issues, with players reporting serious graphical issues that make the game unplayable.
There is currently a 28-page thread on the official EA Help Forum’s titled “FIFA 22 – Xbox Series S – Resolution Issue”, which is full of angry Xbox Series S owners who are posting examples of the issues and calling for a patch that will fix their playing experience.
The screenshots posted on this thread show that the next-gen version of FIFA 22 on Xbox Series S is extremely blurry with incredibly fuzzy graphics, with players also reporting that the menus in the game only run at 30fps on Xbox Series S, which runs at 60 fps on Xbox Series X consoles. Players are also reporting trails from the ball when passing or shooting.
There is also a popular Reddit thread titled “Horrible Graphics on Xbox Series S?!” with people claiming exactly the same issues as in the EA Help thread.
One comment from Cechmeoutt on Reddit said: “There are multiple threads of countless people with this problem on the EA forums and the EA reps are just ignoring all of them. Seems like the game is rendering at 720p and upscaling or something. Looks absolutely terrible. Menu is also at 30fps instead of 60fps, which makes no sense. If this isn’t fixed I will be cancelling my pre-order tbh.”
Another comment from JoeH-87 on the EA Help forum said: “If no fix i’ll 100% be selling my Series S and try get a Re-fund on FIFA 22 – as i’m really struggling to play the game, the blur/disortion really does hurt my eyes due to trying to focus so badly.”
Also on the EA Help forum, PaulG775 posted a graphic comparing the performance of the graphics on a variety of consoles.
