Ferdinand raises Salah question after Liverpool ace breaks Premier League record

The Manchester United great has heaped praise on Liverpool’s Egyptian star after he achieved another impressive individual feat in the 3-3 draw away to Brentford

Klopp hails ‘exceptional Salah’ after latest Liverpool landmark

Rio Ferdinand believes ‘absolute killer’ Mohamed Salah has earned the right to be named in the elite bracket of attackers in world football.

Salah created more history with Liverpool on Saturday after becoming the club’s quickest player to reach 100 top flight goals.

The Egyptian star netted his 100th Premier League goal as Liverpool retook the lead in a dramatic 3-3 draw away to newly promoted Brentford.

Salah reached the ton of goals in just 151 league appearances for the Reds after arriving from Roma in 2017.

The 29-year-old has claimed two Golden Boot awards, as well as Premier League and Champions League titles since his move to Merseyside four years ago.

Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise on Liverpool star Salah

He has been one of the most proficient goalscorers English football has seen over the last decade and Ferdinand believes Salah’s position makes his achievement all the more impressive.

“He’s the fifth quickest to 100 Premier League goals in history, and the biggest fact of all that is he’s a wide player. He’s a wide striker, he’s not an actual out-and-out number nine,” the Manchester United great said on his Vibe with Five Youtube show.

“Ahead of him is Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, Thierry Henry and then Salah.

“From the people I’ve spoken to who have been around him, played with him, worked at the club. He’s focused, he’s got that mentality, that obsession with football, obsession with scoring goals and being at the top of the charts.

“Every game you watch him he gets at least one or two opportunities on goal, created by himself or put on a plate for him.”

Ferdinand believes Salah is the complete package and deserves more recognition as one of the very best in the world.

“He’s an absolute killer. So when you’re talking about the best strikers, the best attackers in world football over the last couple of years, Salah has to be in the conversation.

“Go and watch Salah and what he does. He dominates and destroys top level players on a regular basis. He makes the game look easy, he makes football look easy.

“When a player’s doing that at the speed at which he plays, that tells you they’re high level. Numbers, trophies don’t lie. Salah has it all.”

Meanwhile, Salah and Liverpool are preparing for a huge week as they prepare to face FC Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday before champions Manchester City visit Anfield on Sunday.
