I’m A Celeb hit with another security breach as intruders share pics inside camp

I’m a Celebrity suffered another security breach last week, amid the destructive Storm Arwen, as two intruders reportedly evaded the security system at Gwrych Castle and entered the ITV camp

Intruders who managed to enter the I’m A Celebrity camp in North Wales have brazenly shared photos taken inside Gwrych Castle, it’s been reported.

The two individuals are understood to have worn camouflaged outfits and it’s claimed that they were able to evade a complex security system, before taking selfies together within the historic landmark, as reported by North Wales Live.

The pair are said to have managed to wander around the site for more than an hour before being caught.

The incident is said to have happened while the camp was empty, with the celebrities understood to have been in another part of the castle – as they waited to be moved back into isolation amid Storm Arwen over the weekend.

The intruders took photos around the camp, with images showing sleeping bags on the beds, the courtyard and even the dunny.

One of the intruders, who wished to remain anonymous, said that they were removed from the set after getting past the production’s six-tier security system, which reportedly includes bulletproof detection robots.

The pair claim to have remained on site for around 90 minutes before being escorted out by security.

Speaking to North Wales Live, one of them said: “Myself and a friend managed to get into the set after a two hour hike over the mountain tops of the castle estate.”

The intruders have been condemned for their ‘irresponsible’ behaviour

He continued: “I was unaware the celebs had been evacuated at the time we managed to get into the castle as I don’t follow the show or the news on it, but was aware the weather had been bad on the night before due to the storm so didn’t know what to expect.”

“I’m slightly glad the celebs were not on set as I believe If we had managed to come into contact it could have forced the whole show off air as it would have breached the programme’s Covid bubble.

“Despite this, we remained on site for at least 90 minutes before actually getting spotted by any security but this was after we had explored the entirety of the campmates’ quarters.”

According to the outlet, they managed to evade multiple security systems positioned around the site’s perimeters – which included high fencing, patrolling guards and checkpoints where ID must be shown to gain access.

They also got past this year’s additional security measure – Armadillo robots – which have automated sentries designed to detect and spook intruders with deafening alarms, blinding lights, and a camera.

The incident is understood to have happened amid strong winds caused by Storm Arwen, with the storm having caused damage to the production site at Gwrych Castle last week.

The intruders have been condemned following the incident, with a show source commenting: “This was such irresponsible behaviour to put themselves and the security team in during the storm. They were trespassing on private property and creating unnecessary risks.”

The intruders were subsequently escorted off the property

They added: “The safety of both our celebrities and our production crew remains our primary concern.”

It’s not the first time there’s been a security breach at the site with a separate incident last week seeing another intruder having sneaked into the site, prior to the celebrities being taken back to isolation.
