Kerry Katona has said that her cocaine addiction at its height came dangerously close to costing her life.

The 40-year-old mum-of-five has relived the darkest moments of her addiction but is now in a happier place after a public struggle with substance abuse, over the years.

The former Atomic Kitten singer now speaks out on social media in order to help others when life is becoming difficult and has shown what happens if you don’t reach out for help when needed.

Kerry has admitted that she has almost died twice due to the binges she would go on and she has spoken about her feelings when she experienced those near-death moments.

Speaking to new! Magazine, the reality star said: “The amount of coke I was once doing, I literally died.

“I remember coming back [from the brink of death] with these beautiful figures around me and I felt so much love – that happened to me twice.

“I’d stopped breathing. So I know I have angels looking out for me. You can knock me down but you can’t keep me down.”

Kerry has battled a number of health conditions over the years but is now undertaking one of her hardest challenges, as she appears on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The Channel 4 show is renown for taking no prisoners and there have been numerous occasions when the show has broken down its celebrity participants as they face the tough love of the instructors.

This time around, it is chief instructor Ant Middleton that begins to unlock the issues facing Kerry, and during an interrogation, he finds Kerry breaking down over the mental block that is holding her back.

She breaks down in tears as she admits that past traumas have weighed too much on her and are affecting her every day.

Kerry also pointed to the shouting during the drills and the ferocity of it as a trigger for having the feelings she had while in her abusive three-year marriage to George Kay.

Kerry has seven-year-old daughter, Dylan-Jorge, with George, who died in 2019 after suffering a seizure after biting into a cocaine ‘eight-ball’.

After her interrogation, Kerry said to the cameras: “When George died there were so many mixed emotions. I was so angry.

“How f***ing dare you die?! Putting me and the kids through all that s**t, and then you just die.

“The worst conversation I had to have was with my five-year-old to tell her her daddy had died. I had to explain that to a baby.

“As t**t as he was, he was still her dad.”
