Khabib ranked Fury as the pound-for-pound number one before the fight and the retired UFC star has now congratulated the Brit on his win against Wilder
Fury survived two knockdowns in round four to stop Wilder in round eleven, putting a decisive end to their rivalry in one of the great heavyweight title fights in recent years.
Wilder – who was taken to hospital following his knockout loss – admitted Fury was the better man and his 39lb weight disadvantage drained his energy in the later rounds.
Fury celebrated the win with his family and friends by partying with world-renowned DJ Steve Aoki in Las Vegas.
And Nurmagomedov sent Fury a video of congratulations on his Instagram account.
He said alongside his coach Javier Mendez: “Tyson, congratulations it was a very good fight. My coach wants to say congratulations to you too.”
Mendez said: “Congratulations, it was an incredible fight. You’re an incredible fighter, an incredible human being. I really like your style.
And Khabib added whilst coaching two fighters in sparring: “We’re here, doing our job. Let’s go guys! Let’s go. Look at these guys. Congratulations again brother.”
Fury is likely to defend his WBC heavyweight title against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte in December.
But his father John doesn’t want Fury to fight Whyte and thinks Oleksandr Usyk is the only opponent he should face.
Khabib said before Fury’s trilogy with Wilder that he ranks him above the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Usyk in the pound-for-pound list.
He told ES News: “Right now? I truly believe Tyson Fury is the best. Heavyweight and undefeated and he beat everybody.
“Like very close, like Canelo [Alvarez], [Oleksandr] Usyk, [Terence] Crawford, like all these guys very close. It’s just my opinion like top like Tyson Fury right now.”
Can Tyson Fury retire from the ring undefeated? Let us know in the comments section below
Khabib retired from MMA after submitting Justin Gaethje to improve his undefeated record to 29-0.
His manager Ali Abdelaziz admitted Khabib was close to making an appearance in the ring after being offered $100 million to fight ring legend Floyd Mayweather.
But Khabib turned the offer down after promising his mother he wouldn’t fight again following the death of his father Abdulmanap last year.
Abdelaziz said on Mike Tyson’s Hot Boxin’ podcast: “Khabib got offered $100 million after he was retired to fight Floyd Mayweather. $100 million… $100 million, and you can ask Floyd, you can ask everybody.
“Khabib said, ‘No, I’m retired. I told my mother I’m retired. I’m going to keep my word to my mother. ‘If my mother told me to fight again, maybe I would, but right now, she told me not to fight’.”
