Liverpool are reportedly eyeing some attacking reinforcements for January as they look to deal with the disruptions caused by injuries and the African Cup of Nations

Klopp delivers team news for Liverpool’s match with Arsenal

Premier League football is back with a bang this weekend with Liverpool‘s clash against Arsenal arguably topping of the bill.

The Reds will be looking to bounce back from their thrilling 3-2 defeat to West Ham last time out which ended a 25-match unbeaten streak, but Jurgen Klopp has been dealt some fresh injury blows after of the encounter.

A number of fitness concerns alongside the prospect of losing several stars to the African Cup of Nations has no doubt sped up plans to identify key transfer targets for the upcoming January window.

Having only acquired one player in the form of RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate for £35million in the summer just gone, the Merseyside club are expected to bolster their squad with more incomings in the New Year or risk history repeating itself.

Last season, injuries hampered the Reds’ campaign as their Premier League title defence crumbled before Klopp’s eyes.

January’s transfer window could be pivotal in determining this season’s destiny and Anfield chiefs will no doubt be deep in discussions with Klopp as they look to deal with the disruptions caused by injuries and African commitments.

Reds preparing mega money Mbappe offer

Liverpool hope to tempt Mbappe with a mega money contract offer

As if the world didn’t already need convincing, five strikes in two French appearances during the recent international break once again reiterated why Kylian Mbappe is the hottest footballing talent on the planet right now.

The Paris Saint-Germain frontman hit four in his nation’s 8-0 demolition of Kazakhstan as France secured qualification for next year’s Qatar World Cup with two resounding victories.

With the 22-year-old out of contract at the end of this season, a whole host of clubs – led by Real Madrid – are battling it out to secure his much-coveted signature. And it appears Liverpool have a hatched a plan to trump all of their rivals.

According to Defensa Central, the Reds are preparing a whopping contract offer worth €30million per year as they step up their efforts to lure Mbappe away from Real Madrid’s grasp.

PSG rejected a number of approaches from the Spanish giants in the summer and tensions appear fraught between the two clubs after Real president Florentino Perez vented his frustration at Mbappe’s failed £200m move.

According to the Spanish publication, Liverpool now hope to blow Los Blancos out of the water and tempt Mbappe to sign with them instead by accepting the mega money offer.

Doku dismisses Barca

Jeremy Doku’s father appears to have ruled out his son signing for Barcelona

Another player who has been heavily linked with the Anfield club is that of Rennes’ Belgian winger Jeremy Doku.

The 19-year-old previously turned down the Reds four years ago, choosing to snub Liverpool’s advances and sign his first professional contract with homeland club Anderlecht, viewing it as a safer option for his career at the time.

However, having established himself as one of Europe’s rising stars following a £23m move to French side Rennes last year, the time might finally have come for Doku to team up with Liverpool.

The Reds have now received a boost in their pursuit of the dynamic Doku with his father seemingly ruling out a move to La Liga giants Barcelona given their current well-documented financial troubles.

Speaking to Het Laaste Nieuws, Doku’s father revealed: “We haven’t had any news (from Barca) and I don’t think they are able to spend large sums of money right now.

“There are other clubs that appreciate Jeremy, even if I can’t say anything about it. I don’t think he wants to change (clubs) yet but, in football, everything can change quickly. It depends on which team is interested.”

With Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane potentially missing for over a month in the New Year as a result of their African Cup of Nations commitments, Liverpool are continuously being tipped to sign some attacking cover in January.

One such name who has attracted lots of attention is that of Porto’s Colombian winger Luis Diaz, who sparkled for his nation in last summer’s Copa America.

The winger has continued to impress within this season’s Champions League and over in Portugal, drawing the interest of a number of Premier League clubs, Liverpool included – something that hasn’t come as a surprise to his agent.

Speaking to Radio Renascenca, Diaz’s agent Carlos Van Strahalen stated: “Chelsea and Liverpool interest rumours? It’s normal.

“If a player plays well, if he starts to stand out, if the majority considers him the best player in the Portuguese League, if he’s the top scorer and is making a high-level Champions League, that interest is normal.”

According to Jornal de Noticias, Diaz’s contract contains a staggering €80m release clause, which will mean Klopp would have to spend big if he is to sign the Colombian sensation in January.
