Man charged with murder of mum and three children found dead at sleepover

A 31-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a mum, her two children, and her daughter’s friend in Killamarsh.

The bodies of John Paul Bennett, 13, Lacey Bennett, 11, their mother Terri Harris, 35, and Lacey’s friend Connie Gent, 11, were discovered at the property near Sheffield, on Sunday morning.

Damien Bendall, who was reportedly in a relationship with Terri, has been charged with the murders of the mum and three children.

Derbyshire Police announced he had been charged on Wednesday.

The force said earlier the murder suspect was detained at the property and had only minor injuries.

The three children found dead at the property were pupils at Outwood Academy City in Sheffield.

Connie had at a sleepover with Lacey on the Saturday night before she was found dead along with the siblings and their mum.

In a heartbroken tribute, John Paul and Lacey’s dad Jason Bennett wrote earlier: ” “I don’t want anyone to ever go through what I am going through right now.

“My little girl has gone I can’t even put into words or even how to feel or react right now.”

Visiting the scene where the community was laying flowers and tributes, the children’s grandmother, Diane Bennett, said: “They were beautiful, well-mannered, did anything for anybody.

She added: “But at the moment it’s my son I’m worried about. I know we’ve lost somebody but he’s lost even more. “
