Cristiano Ronaldo ‘happy to be back home’ at Man United

Mohamed Salah is seeking £500,000-a-week if he is to extend his contract at Liverpool.

The Reds forward, who has scored over 100 times since moving to Anfield in 2017, is into the final two years of his deal.

Salah is looking to pen fresh terms that would make him the second highest paid player in the Premier League, narrowly behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese winger has returned to Old Trafford this summer and will pocket over half a million a week as he aims to end Manchester United’s trophy drought.

Salah has been the subject of interest from Ronaldo’s former employers, Real Madrid, as well as their rivals Barcelona.

The Egyptian has talked up a switch to Spain in the future and is looking for a handsome pay day to stay at Anfield.

Liverpool haven’t a single player in the ten highest paid stars in England’s top flight, but Salah’s potential new deal could change all that.

United’s investment is clear, with five men inside the top ten.

The nearest man to Ronaldo’s £510,000-a-week is one Kevin De Bruyne, winner of the past two PFA Player of the Year awards.

The Belgian is Manchester City’s highest earner, pocketing £400,000-a-week.

United goalkeeper David de Gea signed a lucrative new deal back in the summer of 2019 when there was talk of him leaving.

His form begun to nosedive and he has had to fend off competition from Dean Henderson but still retains the faith of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

De Gea earns £375,000-a-week with Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane not far off.

The two summer signings at Old Trafford have both arrived with huge expectations and their pay reflects that.

Sancho earns a weekly wage of £350,000 – £10,000 more than Varane.

It means the five highest earners in the top flight all ply their trade in Manchester.

Chelsea‘s record signing Romelu Lukaku, who returned this summer from Inter Milan, is the first Chelsea player on the list.

He is seen by many as the missing piece of the jigsaw for the Blues and scored on his debut against Arsenal.

The Belgian earns a hefty £325,000-a-week in west London.

Another record transfer, Jack Grealish, the most expensive British player of all time, is the joint seventh highest earner in the Premier League.

The former Aston Villa man is getting used to life under Pep Guardiola but whilst doing so is earning £300,000-a-week.

His club and international team-mate Raheem Sterling earns the same amount, but he will soon have to enter contract talks at the Etihad.

French midfielders N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba round out the top ten, each earning £290,000-a-week.
