Countdown’s Carol Vorderman was super proud of her son Cameron as he secured his masters degree in animation and video effects
Carol Vorderman was left gushing with pride as she revealed her son Cameron has achieved his masters degree.
The TV presenter, 60, shared a rare snap of the 24-year-old as she celebrated his success over the weekend.
The doting mum-of-two explained how Cameron overcame “endless bullying” and has achieved an incredible result.
Taking to Twitter, she shared a special post to congratulate him, titling the tweet: “A story of celebration”.
Alongside snaps of him as a youngster, Carol wrote: “My son Cameron was a happy toddler.
“Before and after he started school it became clear that he had severe special educational needs.
“No school would accept him. I was going to give up work to teach him but even I couldn’t teach a child with his severe needs.”
She added: “Cam went to a “special school” for 5 yrs where they specialised in teaching children like him. Then he changed school to mainstream age 10 but still had additional specialist help. I knew he was super bright but that his development curve would be a different shape to “normal”.”
She followed up in a video: “He struggled, and when I say struggled, it was off the scale. I had to find him a special school, if you like.
“Cam stuck with it, through endless bullying, changed school, developed strategies to learn.
“He got a first class honours degree in animation, and now he has just received his masters degree in animation and video effects.”
She concluded: “I’ve learned so much from Cameron. I’ve learned patience and kindness and perseverance and strategies and calm. He’s now THE MASTER. Children with special needs just have a different development curve.”
Cameron attended the University of Dundee, where he secured his masters degree.
Underneath her inspiring post, Carol received lots of support from impressed fans.
“Well done to Cameron. I know there have been a lot of people there to help you but you must have shown exceptional determination. Congratulations,” one person shared.
A second penned: “Amazing Carol..congratulations to Cameron for a great achievement in any circumstances & to you for allowing him to find his own pace & path. Hope he’s as proud of himself as you are of him x”
“This has really warmed my heart – Especially at a time where everything seems very negative. It just shows that the skies the limit when you work hard & have a great support network. Congratulations to Cameron. Here’s to even greater achievements! x” a third commented.
