Richarlison’s Everton vow as Brazil star makes fresh transfer admission

The Toffees talisman has appeared to suggest he views his long-term future away from Goodison Park after ruling nothing out when pressed on speculation surrounding a possible transfer

New Everton boss Benitez quizzed on past ‘small club’ comments

Everton star Richarlison is happy at Goodison Park but refuses to rule out a move away.

However, just weeks after reports emerged the Brazilian international was the subject of surprise interest from European giants Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, he insists any move “must be good for me.”

The Toffees fan favourite is thought to also have a number of admirers within the Barcelona hierarchy, after the Catalan giants even lodging a staggering £85million bid for the 24-year-old in January of 2020 – a bid that was, surprisingly for some, turned down by Everton.

Real Madrid have since thrown their hat in the ring, after former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti returned to the Santiago Bernabeu, while Richarlison is close friends with Brazil teammate Neymar and was linked with PSG this summer, before Lionel Messi pitched up in the French capital.

Now Richarlison has spoken out about his future to Brazilian outlet Ole, revealing: “I’m always very careful when I talk about it.

“I have great affection for the people of Everton and for the club, who received me so well from the first day I arrived.

“I don’t know what the future holds. If one day I have to go, it must be good for me, but also for the club.

“But if I stay, I will continue giving my life for this shirt and for the fans, who have always supported me and were with me at all times.

“I have enormous gratitude and feel at home when I am at Finch Farm training ground or Goodison Park stadium.”

Richarlison has proved to be an extremely successful addition for Everton since his arrival in the summer of 2018.

The former Watford star has notched 43 goals in 123 appearances, establishing himself as a crucial part of a number of Everton sides under an array of different managers.

Despite the interest from a number of top European clubs, Everton are not currently in a position where they can be cornered into selling on the cheap or risk losing Richarlison for free, with his current contract not expiring until 2024.

The Everton talisman hardly helped quell the rumours linking him with a move to PSG when he heaped praise on both Lionel Messi and fellow countryman Neymar.

“I prefer to admire and learn from Neymar, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, from everyone.

“We are privileged to have three of the most fantastic players in the history of football still active and at the highest level. Why not enjoy instead of comparing them?”
