Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praises Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother Dolores Aveiro has rubbished rumours that she has a tumultuous relationship with her son’s long term partner Georgina Rodriguez.

The Manchester United superstar has been with Georgina, 27, for the last five years and they have one child together, Alana.

The two, along with Ronaldo’s four children have all moved to Manchester after the Portuguese forward sealed an emotional Old Trafford return.

And appearing on Sporting’s ADN de Leao podcast, Dolores spoke in glowing terms about her son’s partner.

“Yes, yes, she’s a good girl,” she began. “Cristiano is an exemplary father but he has people to help. The children have nannies and they have staff who do a lot of things.

Dolores claims Georgina Rodriguez is a source of huge support for her son

“Four kids are a lot of work. Georgina is a great support to Cristiano, no doubt about it.”

In an open and honest interview, Dolores, 66, opened up on the stroke she suffered last year which took away her sense of smell and taste.

After battling breast cancer, she suffered a stroke in March 2020, where she was given life-saving treatment after being rushed to hospital.

Dolores claims she has yet to fully recover from that incident, but that has done little to dampen her love for the sport her son has been at the top of for almost two decades.

“I adore football,” she continued. “If you invite me to dinner and there’s a match on, I won’t go to eat and I’ll stay in and watch the game instead. Even if Ronaldo’s not playing, I’m always watching.”

A huge Sporting fan, Dolores has made it clear that she wants Cristiano to return to his boyhood club before she dies.

“Ronaldo has to come back here, if it was up to me he’d be here already,” Dolores added. “He likes watching Sporting’s games.

“I’ve already told him: ‘Son, before I die, I want to see you return to Sporting.

He says: ‘Let’s see’: But if it can’t be him, then Cristianinho!”

Cristiano Ronaldo and his mother Dolores have a very close relationship

Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, the United forward’s eldest child, is also training with the Red Devils after scoring 56 times for Juventus ’ Under-9s.

And Ronaldo’s mom believes the youngster is better than her son was at the same age, thanks to having a coach who has five Ballon d’Ors to his name.

“At his age, he plays better than Ronaldo,” she said of her 11-year-old grandson. “At that age, Ronaldo didn’t have a coach but today Ronaldo is his son’s teacher.

“He’s already saying ‘Dad, when we move to Lisbon I want to play for Sporting’. Now he’s starting out at Manchester [United]. Seeing the two of them together at Sporting was my dream, it would be spectacular.”
