We’ll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story.

Santander’s app and online banking service is out of action for many users, with some unable to access their accounts.

Customers started reporting an issue at around 5.30am which is still ongoing, according to the website Down Detector, which monitors IT outages.

Around half (53%) of reports said online banking was down, 27% had issues with the bank’s app and 20% couldn’t access the bank’s services on their mobiles.

Some customers are also having problems making card payments, according to Santander’s service update website.

However, using a Santander card to take cash out seems to be working as normal.

The bank posted on Twitter this morning to apologise for the outage.

A Santander spokesperson said: “We’re aware that some customers are currently experiencing issues accessing mobile and online banking and making some card payments.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience and working hard to fix the problem as soon as possible.”
