Saturday horse racing tips from Newsboy for the eight races on ITV

Our top tipster expects Snow Lantern to win the Group 1 Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes (2.55) at Newmarket, while the TV cameras are also at Ascot and Redcar

Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe key contenders

SNOW LANTERN can follow in the prints of her mother Sky Lantern with a victory in the Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes (2.55) at Newmarket today.

It is eight years since Sky Lantern, saddled by Richard Hannon snr – then in his final year with a licence – captured the one-mile Group 1 for fillies and mares.

Richard Hannon jnr always believed Snow Lantern capable of making an impression at the top level and his opinion was vindicated when Frankel’s daughter and Sean Levey beat Mother Earth by half a length for the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket’s July Festival.

My selection didn’t get the breaks when third to Alcohol Free and Poetic Flare in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and was found to be under the weather after her fourth to Baaeed in the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp last time out.

But Snow Lantern is reported back in rude health and the grey can show her true colours.

The £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes (2.20) looks a good opportunity for FEARBY to take the £81,165 back to his trainer Ed Bethell’s Middleham base.

Since landing Sandown Park’s Listed Dragon Stakes by five lengths in July, the Havana Gold youngster has made the frame when upped in grade at Glorious Goodwood, York and Newbury – and stands out on that form.

The British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap (1.45) looks trick but SWOON is upwardly mobile and well related, so should give a good account.

At Ascot, TOMFRE should not be underestimated in the Equine Productions “The Fall” Challenge Cup Handicap (3.50).

Four attempts in 2021 have yielded two second placings for the Ralph Beckett trainee, but Tomfre came good when the nights started drawing in last year and is now just 2lb above his last winning mark.

The Queen’s racecourse shows GLEN SHIEL in his best light, and the 2020 British Champion Sprint hero is taken to hit the bullseye in the Group 3 John Guest Racing Bengough Stakes (3.15).

It was no disgrace that HUKUM was floored by Hamish in Kempton Park’s September Stakes last time, and Owen Burrows’ stable star is the one to beat in the Group 3 ABF/BCG Cumberland Lodge Stakes (2.40).

A slovenly start hindered SIGNIFICANTLY when fourth to Hurricane Ivor at Newbury two weeks ago – Tis Marvellous returned in third – but revenge is on the cards in the Listed Oakman Group Rouse Stakes (2.05).

At Redcar, CHIPOTLE can make a drop in class tell as he faces 14 rivals for the Listed William Hill Two Year Old Trophy (3.35).
