Aston Villa legend makes Jack Grealish plea to fans

Gabriel Agbonlahor has pleaded with Aston Villa fans not to boo or jeer Jack Grealish at Villa Park when Manchester City face Steven Gerrard’s side this evening.

Grealish will make a brief return to Villa Park tonight following a recent spell out on the sidelines due to injury which has seen him miss the last two Premier League games for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Villa’s former captain was forced to withdraw from international duty with England at the start of last month after sustaining a knock and has been out of action since.

But as the Premier League champions are due to face Villa tonight, Grealish has made a timely return to fitness.

The 26-year-old has been named amongst the City substitutes to face Villa.

It is his first reunion with the club he left for in the summer, as City paid a Premier League record transfer fee of £100million to secure his signature back in August.

Grealish could have joined Manchester United just 12 months beforehand, but that transfer failed to materialise so boyhood Villa fan put pen to paper on a new five-year deal which included a £100million buyout.

While he has struggled to hit the ground running at his new club, he could make his first Premier League appearance since October tonight.

Villa legend Agbonlahor hopes supporters don’t chose to boo him as he returns to Villa Park as an opposition player.

He said on Twitter, underneath a compilation of Grealish’s best moments: “Don’t boo him”.
