Millwall forward Mason Bennett is expected to return to training this week ahead of Saturday’s meeting with West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.
The 25-year-old is yet to feature this season, having picked up an untimely injury against Ipswich Town in the club’s final pre-season friendly of the summer.
Bennett was introduced just after the hour mark and was swiftly replaced 20 minutes later by Tom Bradshaw after rolling his ankle while getting clattered by an opposition player.
That sidelined the former Derby County youngster for all seven of Millwall’s matches last month, and a return would be a timely one.
Bennett has also been a thorn in the Baggies ‘ side previously, scoring as a second-half substitute at Pride Park in a 3-1 win on the final day of the 2018/19 season.
In fact, the forward has yet to end up on the losing side against West Brom on the three previous occasions he has taken to the field against them.
Earlier that same season, he again made an impact against Albion by setting up Scott Malone for the Rams fourth goal at the Hawthorns in a 4-1 win.
Bennett also featured in the 1-1 draw during the promotion season where Kenneth Zohore’s late penalty secured the Baggies a point in the East Midlands. He did not feature later that campaign in the 2-0 defeat after joining Millwall.
Shaun Hutchinson, Danny McNamara and Ryan Leonard are all also making progress with their respective injuries but are not yet expected to feature this weekend.
