Birmingham City fans wade in after ‘terrible’ Peterborough defeat

Birmingham City were soundly beaten by Peterborough United at the London Road Stadium today.

A first-half own goal from Harlee Dean, followed by a Jonson Clarke-Harris penalty and a a 50th-minute strike from Jorge Grant handed Blues their second defeat in three days.

To make matters worse Gary Gardner was shown a straight red card for a lunge at Nathan Thompson leaving Lee Bowyer with much to think about.

All of which came in front of 4,000 travelling fans – Blues ‘ biggest contingent since the pandemic.

It’s fair to say many of them voiced their disappointment after the game.

@MWFitnessPro: Never is there a sure thing when you support #bcfc – Let’s see how we bounce back from this. Seems teams have figured out if they get it off us in the middle it’s easy to play in behind us.

@T_oxland276: Aneke has been the only positive from this game

@Gergz1875 : Sunjic performance has been the only positive from that. Never seen so many poor passes and poor first touches. No 50/50s falling to us.

@RGarrehy86: Absolutely awful today!! Think our lads thought they just had to turn up today to beat these.

@iMacMark: Blues actually making better chances with 10 men.

@dep05_: Someone return Bowyers lucky jumper to him immediately.

@outofcontextbir: I’m sorry but no one can clap that performance.

@KnutRoger: When a team are on a bad run, and then they meet Blues, you know what’s gonna happen.

@RyanDeeney2194: Conceded early, tried to get back into it & punished. Awful couple of results. No lack of effort. Just poor decision making costing us against two sides bang up for it. Full week till next game. Chance for a reset & to go again.

@cdbcfc_ : Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Think that’s the worst I’ve seen us (in person) since Steve Cotterill. We got battered in every department. Credit to #pufc. Played us off the park. Play some great stuff – Clarke-Harris is a proper handful and bullied Dean & Roberts.

@mirak_eel: Joint best defence in the league, go and concede 7 in 2 games lol

@jamesbcfc7: 7 goals in 2 games, worst performance of the season, back to being low on confidence, next week against Preston is a huge must win game for me

AcCw2329: For me Sanderson and Aneke have to start against Preston, sunjic has run himself into the ground too!
