The Polar Express Christmas event is not happening in Birmingham this year.
Launched in 2018, the Vintage Trains attraction inspired by the Tom Hanks film proved to be hugely popular with families in the city.
Departing from Moor Street Station, children were transported on a magical journey to the North Pole to see Father Christmas, meeting the famous conductor and indulging in hot chocolates and cookies along the way.

Many people turned up to the station in their pyjamas and festive onesies to take part in the festivities.
Like most events, it had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the nationwide lockdowns but many people were hoping to be able to book for Christmas 2021.
Sadly, it has been announced that the event cannot take place this year but there is good news for next year.

“The Polar Express is not happening this year but it will be returning in 2022,” said Adam Williams from Vintage Trains.
“Like other businesses, Vintage Trains closed down during the global pandemic and this had a huge financial impact on the business.
“Effectively, from July, we have started again from a really low financial base with the uncertainty of the Covid situation.
“Luckily the country seems to be bouncing back in a rigorous way but by this time it was too late for us to put it on.
“When we had to make a call about whether to hold the Polar Express back in April / May, it wasn’t prudent for the business for us to make that decision then.
“Because it runs from Moor Street Station, we have a huge financial commitment to make whether it runs or not. Actors and others have to be paid and if it was cancelled we would have still had to pay out a significant amount of money.
“The good news is that the Polar Express will be running in 2022, just like it was in 2018 and 2019 – only bigger and better than ever before.”
The Polar Express is running at Telford Steam Railway from November 26 to December 23. There are also Santa Trains at Severn Valley Railway from November 27 to December 24. Tickets are selling out fast to both events. Find out more and book here
