Cute duo and a pup saved from breeding – dogs waiting to come home with you

There are hundreds of dogs who are looking for new homes at the big rescue centres across the region.

But have you ever considered adopting from a small rescue?

There are lots of dogs who are currently in foster homes after rescues experienced a huge influx of surrenders during and after the lockdowns.

Wings and Paws Rescue, in Wolverhampton, is just one of the charities that are currently helping a number of animals find new homes and get the medical help they need.

Speaking to TeamDogs, Clare Vowles the CEO of Wings and Paws Rescue, said: “The pandemic affected us massively – we were unable to do much in the way of fundraising and events to raise money for the animals and our vet bills. We have had to rely on social media and donations a lot more than normal.

“We have also seen a huge influx in dogs and cats – especially puppies and kittens where they have been overbred by people hoping to make money or by people who don’t know what they are doing. We have had a lot of sick and birth defect puppies/kittens who have needed specialist help..”

Below is a list of gorgeous dogs who looking for their forever home. Please note that adoption fees will apply and home checks will be required. If you’re interested in adopting any of the dogs get in touch with Wings and Paws Rescue.

Amber

Amber

Amber is an English Bulldog who is around four years old who has had a tough life.

This gorgeous girly is an ex breeding dog, but she is now in the safe care of her Wings and Paws fosterers who adore her. Since coming to the rescue, Amber has been spayed to ensure she has no more puppies. She’s had her ear and skin infections treated and has also had eye surgery to treat her inward-pointing eyelashes. Amber also suffers from dry eye as a result of this so will be on eye drops for life – her new owners must take this into consideration.

Amber can live with children over the age of six and can live with other dogs.

They are super little Chihuahuas who are looking for their perfect home together.

The resume will not allow them to be rehomed separately.

The pair are lovely dogs who adore children. However, they are not well toilet trained, so their new owners will need to work on that, but they will soon get the hang of it with patience and positive reinforcement training.

They can live with children who are over the age of six.

Trixie

Trixie is a Chihuahua Pomeranian cross. She is around four years old. She can live with other dogs as she gets on well with the other foster dog she lives with. However, Trixie will need to go to a home where there are no children as she does not like them. Therefore she can only go to an adult-only household.
