Deadline day details as summer transfer window set to close

It has been a busy summer transfer window for Aston Villa and there is still time for them and their Premier League rivals to do more business yet.

Villa have already completed the signings of Emiliano Buendia, Ashley Young, Leon Bailey, Danny Ings and Axel Tuanzebe, who has returned to the club on loan from Manchester United.

A string of other players have been linked with a move to Villa Park.

Meanwhile, Jack Grealish has left his boyhood club to join Manchester City in a British record £100million deal.

Ahmed Elmohamady, Neil Taylor and Tom Heaton have all left Villa Park this summer at the end of their contracts. And goalkeeper Heaton has sealed a return to Manchester United.

Here’s all you need to know about the 2021 summer transfer window ahead of deadline day…

When does the Premier League transfer window close?

The Premier League’s summer 2021 transfer window will be open for 12 weeks overall.

The window opened on Wednesday, June 9, and is due to close at 11pm on Tuesday, August 31.

Any deals, loan or permanent, announced by clubs below may still be subject to administrative details before they can be confirmed.

Players must be registered before midday UK time the last working day before a match to be eligible for that fixture.

What about outside of England?

The transfer windows in Scotland, Spain, Germany, Italy and France are also due to close on August 31.

Could transfers still be allowed after the main deadline?

With last season starting later than usual due to the coronavirus pandemic, the main summer window in 2020 closed on October 5.

However, Premier League clubs were still allowed to do business with their EFL counterparts up until October 16.

It was previously reported that a similar extension was being considered again this time around, though nothing has been confirmed as yet, with the window set to shut on August 31 for both Premier League and EFL clubs.

The window will open on January 1 and close on January 31.

The same dates apply for EFL clubs and those in Scotland.
