Aston Villa head coach Steven Gerrard has been nominated for November’s Premier League manager of the month award, earning praise for the job he has done so far at the club.
In his first three games in charge of Villa, the side have picked up six points from a possible nine, beating Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and putting up a good fight in the midweek encounter against reigning Premier League Champions Man City.
The two wins against Brighton and Palace meant that Villa had a 100 percent win record in November under the new boss, recovering from a run of five straight league defeats.
In a three-man shortlist, Gerrard is up against Pep Guardiola of Man City and Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool in the running for the award.
Both managers have matched Gerrard’s 100 percent winning record in the month, winning all three of their matches in the league.
Following the game at Villa Park between Villa and Man City, Guardiola was full of praise for the way Villa played under Gerrard.
“They are a top side, they defend, they have quality with Buendia, with Bailey, with Young and other players,” he said .
“So they have a lot, a lot of quality. They are so good.”
Gerrard is not the only Villa man to be recognised for his achievements in November, with midfielder John McGinn also nominated for the Premier League player of the month award .
The Scotland international comes up against Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Bernardo Silva amongst others.
