Lanarkshire bank to close for three weeks to allow for ‘major upgrade’

A Lanarkshire branch of the bank TSB will close for three weeks as a “major upgrade” gets underway.

New technology such as tablets will be installed for customers at the bank’s Hamilton branch on Quarry Place.

The full layout of inside the premises will also undergo a revamp to make it more open and flexible for locals.

TSB say they want to make it easier to interact with customers and having new technology readily accessible within the bank will allow users to talk to staff through video or telephone calls.

The transformation work will begin on November 8 where the branch will remain temporarily closed until completion which is expected in mid-December.

The move comes after the bank revealed that 90 per cent of all transactions and 70 per cent of all product sales now go through digital channels.

However, support and expert guidance from branch colleagues remains crucial for those big or unexpected moments in customers’ lives, such as buying a home, having children, caring for a loved one or dealing with a bereavement.

The new-look bank will have a larger welcome area and more meeting rooms, as well as more space for customer meetings.

Other features in the new design include the Money Hub, which shows features of all key products and how they can support customers through key parts of their lives.

Customers can scan the wall with their mobile phone, and it will give them features of the products they are looking at.

Also coming into play is the Doing What Matters Wall which will look at TSB’s continuation to society and the community, highlighting support the branch is providing to the local community in Hamilton and promoting local events.

Director, Branch Banking, Carol Anderson said: “There have been significant changes in the way customers do their banking, and we are responding to that by creating a very different type of branch.

“This new layout will help support our customers and give them money confidence because we can interact with them better.”
