Latest coronavirus rates in West Midlands with all 30 areas rising


Friday’s update of Covid-19 case rates for every local authority area in the UK has been released.

Of the 377 local areas in the UK, 345 (92%) have seen a week-on-week rise in rates, 31 (8%) have seen a fall and one is unchanged.

In the West Midlands, every single area is rising – but none higher than Telford and the Wrekin.

The Shropshire location has a rate approaching 500 cases per 100,000 people.

Cannock Chase is next highest, at 479, followed by Newcastle under Lyme’s 444, and Wyre Forest, at 422.

Stoke on Trent is also over the 400 threshold, as is Lichfield, Staffordshire Moorlands and Wolverhampton.

Nuneaton and Bedworth, Walsall, North Warks, Bromsgrove and Tamworth complete the list over 400.

The list has been calculated by the PA news agency using data published on September 10 on the Government’s coronavirus dashboard.
