Axel Tuanzebe reportedly wants to complete a permanent move to Aston Villa.
Tuanzebe is on loan at Villa from Manchester United for the season having moved to the Second City for a third time in August.
Tuanzebe came on loan for the latter half of the 2017-18 side and spent the entirety of the following season at Villa Park, playing in the Championship play-off final as Villa secured promotion to the Premier League.
The 23 year-old went back to United for two seasons, hoping to become a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the defender actually captained the team in a Carabao Cup game.
However Tuanzebe has found it tricky to force his way into United’s first-team past Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly.
Now that Raphael Varane has joined the Red Devils, Tuanzebe’s chances of regular football at his boyhood club are even more slim.
The Sun report that Tuanzebe wants to seal a move to Villa once his loan move ends.
He played in the game at Chelsea on Saturday as Smith moved to a three-man central defence in a shift in formation.
“He’s very happy in the West Midlands and would welcome a permanent move to the club, if that was to arise,” The Sun quote an ‘insider’ as saying.
United fans have had their say on the possibility of a move with the player’s chances of regular football much more likely at Villa.
One said: “Let’s face it, with Maguire and Varane to compete with, as well as Lindelof – and yes even Eric Bailly too – he simply isn’t going to get into the team.”
“It is the best for all parties,” another added while a third fan said: “If Villa pay £35 million or £40m they can have Tuanzebe.
“It would be a good move for him, he is not getting back into our team now with Varane in,” a fourth supporter said.
Another added: “Approved, next?”
