Aston Villa have less than four weeks left to map out their January transfer plans before the window opens at the start of next month.
Here are your Villa transfer headlines on Monday, December 6.
Man United receive Villa transfer instruction
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn.
According to The Sun, McGinn remains a target for United who were first credited with an interest in a move for the Scotland international after Villa’s promotion back into the Premier League two years ago.
Last year’s Premier League champions Liverpool have also been tipped to sign McGinn, who is back to his best form in a claret and blue shirt after the arrival of Steven Gerrard last month.
McGinn was an integral part of Villa ‘s return to the top flight in 2018-19 and he has played key roles in keeping the club in the Premier League and achieving a solid 11th place last season.
The 27 year-old, who was rewarded with a new Villa contract in December last year that runs until July 2025, is a classy operator in midfield and the engine room for the centre of Gerrard ‘s side.
Villa target makes decision over potential Rangers move
Aston Villa target Borna Barisic is reported to be ready to snub former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard over a move to Villa Park.
The 29-year-old Rangers defender was a key part of Gerrard’s side that won last season’s Scottish Premiership and had been identified as a potential £8million January target for Villa.
But, according to a report in the Daily Star, Barisic is said to have been impressed with new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s first few weeks in charge and has told ‘insiders’ that he wants to stay at Ibrox.
And rather than following his former boss to the Premier League, the Croatian international is keen to hang around and help Rangers defend their league crown.
Barisic still has two and a half years left on his contract after Gerrard signed him from native club NK Osijek in 2018.
Villa fans disagree with Agbonlahor over transfers
Aston Villa fans disagree with former captain Gabby Agbonlahor’s suggestions that wingers Anwar El Ghazi and Bertrand Traore could be sold in the upcoming January transfer window to make room for reinforcements out wide.
The three-cap England international believes that the left-wing area of the squad will be strengthened should Steven Gerrard have money to spend in the New Year and thinks that may mean the end of the road at Villa for the duo.
