Man Utd fans want Aston Villa transfer as Liverpool make decision

Aston Villa are looking up the Premier League table instead of over their shoulders.

Steven Gerrard has got Villa into a winning habit with three of his four games in charge ending in victory, the latest a 2-1 defeat of Leicester City on Sunday.

Ezri Konsa bagged a brace and Villa were unlucky to have a goal ruled out when Jacob Ramsey was adjudged to have fouled City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Villa are now in tenth place having collected nine points from a possible 12 under Gerrard, who replaced Dean Smith last month with the former Villa Park chief ending his tenure in charge of his boyhood club on a five-game losing streak.

Things are looking up for Villa and with 23 matches to go the season can be transformed if they keep up their form.

And the January transfer window looks like being a decisive one for the outcome of this season.

Here are the latest transfer rumours…

Rangnick told to seal Villa transfer

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Villa midfielder John McGinn.

According to The Sun, McGinn remains a target for United who were first credited with an interest in a move for the Scotland international after Villa’s promotion back into the Premier League two years ago.

Last year’s Premier League champions Liverpool have also been tipped to sign McGinn, who is back to his best form in a claret and blue shirt after the arrival of Gerrard last month.

McGinn was an integral part of Villa ‘s return to the top flight in 2018-19 and he has played key roles in keeping the club in the Premier League and achieving a solid 11th place last season.

Liverpool make Villa transfer decision

According to the Mirror, Liverpool have decided against loaning Joe Gomez out in the January transfer window.

Gomez has been linked with an unlikely switch to Villa when the market resumes trading in the New Year.

The centre back has struggled for game-time this season and could head out on loan to get some freshness back.

A move to Villa would not make much sense, though, given Gerrard’s men are well-stocked in defence with Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, Axel Tuanzebe and Kortney Hause all centre-backs.

Duo tipped for exit in January

Villa wingers Anwar El Ghazi and Bertrand Traore could be sold this winter if Gerrard gets ‘money to spend‘, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

El Ghazi featured as a late substitute in both of Gerrard ‘s opening matches but was an unused substitute against Manchester City in midweek.

Meanwhile, Traore remains sidelined with a thigh injury and has appeared off the bench just four times this season under former head coach Smith.

Agbonlahor has highlighted ‘left-wing’ as an area that the new boss may well be wanting to strengthen his Villa attack come the New Year, and the former club captain has suggested the duo could well make way.
