It has been widely publicised in the past that Sam’s other show Outlander has missed out on some awards in the past.
The programme did however win the first ever Bafta Scotland Audience award voted by the people at last year’s ceremony.
Now the awards has announced it is looking for nominations for this year’s Audience Award favourite Scot on Screen which must be submitted by Monday September 27.
To be eligible the Scot must have been on screens in a film/programme which had its first transmission in the UK between 29 June 2020 and 30 June 2021 on terrestrial, cable, satellite or digital channels, including web-based broadcasters that commission content (e.g. Amazon, Netflix, and YouTube).
Suggested individuals can be from any genre, including films, tv dramas, factual shows, soaps, daytime, entertainment shows, live events, comedies and Scottish presenters of any show.
Sam reckons it’s time he or Graham are up for a trophy and responded to a plea from organisers at Bafta Scotland for audiences to vote.
Bafta Scotland wrote: “We have exciting news! The Audience Award will return for #BAFTAScot21!
“To kick us off we want YOU to suggest your favourite on screen talent from the past year. You have 1 week to submit your suggestions for your chosen #ScotOnScreen.”
Sam simply put up a gif moving image of himself and Men In Kilts costar Graham McTavish cheering fans on to vote for themselves.
And fans loved the idea.
One said: “Don’t mess around with #MenInKilts! Let’s vote for them!!”
Another added: “They have both been winners for a long time, the program is beautiful and the book is excellent I have learned to love #Scotland from here far away @samhaughan and @graham deserve all the awards”.
A fourth added: “Well THAT is a def no BRAINER for me!!! Sam Heughan gets my vote, no contest!!! Sam you are such an ambassador for Scotland and your craft!!!!!”
The final shortlist of six will be revealed online on October 13.
