Richard Madeley made worrying prediction before rushed to hospital

Richard Madeley made a worrying prediction about his health before he was rushed away to hospital.

The GMB host was taken to hospital after falling ill – forcing ITV to make a statement on the issue saying it was a “precaution”.

“Richard was unwell in the early hours and was immediately seen by our on-site medical team,” an ITV spokesperson said.

“He’s since been taken to hospital as a precaution, the health and safety of our campmates is our priority.”

The 65-year-old has been very honest about his creeping anxiety over his health – particularly since the death of his mother in 2015.

Richard has previously discussed fears for his health while growing older and admitted he’s asked the question, ‘Is this it?’.

Speaking to Woman magazine in February this year, he said: “One morning we look in the mirror and ask, ‘Where did it go? How long do I have left?’”

Richard opened up on the gnawing anxiety that comes with moments of forgetfulness.

His mother, Mary Claire, was sadly diagnosed with dementia three years before her death in 2015 – leaving the presenter concerned whenever he forgets something.

Richard spoke about the creeping anxiety that comes with forgetfulness and what it could signify.

“If it ever happens to me, I would want to meet it head on. I would want to go down fighting,” he explained.

“People of my generation are twitchy. We pounce on the slightest memory lapse or moment of forgetfulness and ask ourselves, ‘Is this it? Is this the start of something major?'”

Richard’s sudden illness will be particularly concerning for wife Judy Finnigan, who has been married to her TV co-host for 35 years.

He was in isolation for two weeks before he even headed into the castle and spoke about how terribly he would miss his wife.

This is the longest time they have ever spent apart and the first ever year Richard has missed their wedding anniversary.

“On Sunday, which is when the first show goes out, that’s our 35th wedding anniversary actually,” he said.

“So that’ll be the first wedding anniversary that I’ve missed and it’s a big one. I gave her a present before we left and a card which she will open on the day. We’re going to really miss each other. I’ll miss her a huge amount.

“I spend every day of my life with her, either working with her or in the house. So yeah, I’m already feeling strangely dislocated. She’s my right arm and she’s not here.”
